ZEPHYR: THE CLOUD ODYSSEY

Zephyr: The Cloud Odyssey is the game I worked on in my second year.

Our team consisted of 3 Designers, 3 Programmers and 5 Artists.

About the game

Zephyr: The Cloud Odyssey is a fast paced first person platformer set in a world of floating islands. The player must make use of 2 teleportation abilities in order to traverse the levels and collect the artifacts at the end of them. It was developed in Unity Engine.

My Role

My main role on Zephyr was as Gameplay Designer as well as being in charge of playtesting and creating our tutorial levels. I also worked with one of the artists on the UI design.

As Gameplay Designer I worked on initial designs of our core mechanics, including teleportation, movement and traps, and then working with our playtest data to adjust these mechanics by adjusting variables or working with programmers to keep the game feeling fast and fluid.

As head of playtesting it was my job to organise and advertise playtests, write out questionnaires and take notes from watching playtesters and from their verbal feedback.

For our tutorial levels I did the level design and wrote the tutorial text to acquaint the player with the core mechanics.

I worked with one of our artists on some of the UI design, drafting up rough layouts and giving feedback on their work.
